Exedy Twin-Plate Clutch System

Exedy owns Daiken, the major manufacturer of clutches for Japanese cars, including Subaru. They made the stock clutch in your WRX or WRX STi. These guys know clutches.

The Exedy twin-plate clutch system uses a purpose-built flywheel combined with a special twin-plate race-style clutch. The twin-plate mechanism delivers double the leverage of a normal clutch, meaning this clutch has the same pedal pressure as a normal clutch, but it can handle a whopping 600 lb-ft. of torque!

Note that this clutch can be pretty loud when the pedal is depressed -- it exhibits the rattle characteristic of multi-plate setups. This noise is most obvious when the clutch is new, and tends to diminsh over time as the clutch breaks in. On the plus side, the fit and finish is amazing -- you'll want to hang it on your wall instead of burying it in your bell housing.

Note II: You MAY experience "Check Engine Light" (CEL) codes 301-301, which are single-cylinder misfire codes, by running this or any other lightweight clutch/flywheel package. The code comes from the ECU not expecting the engine to accelerate or decelerate so quickly. You can either live with the codes, or you can use some kind of engine management system to ignore or neutralize the codes.

Kit includes flywheel and clutch system. Throwout and pilot bearings available separately, below.
