| | Hawk DTC Brake Pads Hawk DTC are full-on track pads. They require a little heat to come up to full operating friction, so we don't recommend them for street use. DTC-60 are a high-torque compound with excellent heat tolerance, good release characteristics, and easy modulation. DTC-70 have slightly higher initial torque and an aggressive-but-controllable initial bite. Properly warmed up, both compounds are easy on rotors. (They're tough on rotors when they're cold, though -- another reason not to run them on the street.)
For fine-tuning braking performance, you can mix DTC-60 and DTC-70 pads on the same car to achieve front-rear balance. On our shop track car, we run DTC-70 on the front, and DTC-60 on the rear, and we love them! There's never any fade, no matter how hard we drive, and they wear well, too.
