Mach V Heptagon Lug Nuts

We noticed our customers kept buying sets of various black lug nuts that we sell, but would always ask for features that were not available on any of the more value-priced lug nuts we sell. After a while we decided we would make some of our own.

The design criteria were as follows:

• Forged steel for strength and reliability
• Even the tool needs to be steel!
• Black color to look good on aftermarket wheels
• Single tool for ease of use
• Some kind of theft resistance
• Fit into the lower end of our lug nut range from a price standpoint

We think we did it! Our Mach V/FastWRX.com lug nut set is under a hundred bucks for the full car set of 20 theft-resistant lug nuts, plus the tool.

Both lug nuts and tool are made of forged steel. The lug nuts are made of forged 50BV30 steel, which is an chrome-vanadium alloy that is extremely strong. These lug nuts are ISO Class 12, meaning they have a proof load of over 100,000 Newtons, or somewhere north of 22,000 lbs of force. That's a lot!

When dealing with many competing lug nut sets, we would get frustrated at having to swap between two different lug nut tools -- one for the normal lug nuts and one for the locks. Our Mach V lug nuts are all the same fastener, so you only need to use one single tool! (For the record, the tool is a 19mm hex size.)

What about theft resistance? Our lug nuts are not a normal hex shape, but instead are heptagon shaped -- seven sided. Normal six- or twelve-point sockets will not fit on them.

Each fastener is 24mm in diameter, about 33mm overall length. The tool is 26mm in diameter.

The finish is a special black coating that has been NSS (neutral salt spray) tested for more than 500 hours.

Note that if your wheels have very deep and/or narrow lug nut wells, it may be difficult to get a tool down in there without contacting the wheel. Our original Mach V Awesome wheels are an example of this. We recommend a thin-wall wheel socket for this situation.
